EARLY SEASON FOOD PLOT PLANTING

June 13, 2022 | FOOD PLOT, THE CRUSH

By Lee & Tiffany Lakosky, The Crush

If you want to become more successful during the season, there is no substitute for scouting in the off-season. Scouting and strategically placing food plots in locations your deer already gravitate to will help give you more opportunities to target deer throughout the season.

LOCATION

Lee places his food plots in key locations that have water and bedding nearby. This gives deer all the basic necessities in one convenient location to eliminate the need for them to move off the property for those resources

PLOT SIZE

An important part of hunting success and holding deer is having an adequate food source to feed your deer herd. A mature whitetail can eat up to 9 pounds of food per day. All hunting properties are different, but on average, you should dedicate up to 15% of your property to food plots.
